During my career I was able to accomplish other styles or aspects of art. Not only did I create fine art, but I also did commercial style work. I designed many logos, t- shirt emblems, posters, cartoons for newspapers, and even a number of caricatures. San Antonio is known for its many celebrations and festivals. The largest one of these is called Fiesta and occurs every April since 1891. This event pays tribute to those who fought and died in the battles of the Alamo, Goliad, and San Jacinto. In 1936 in order to raise money to support cultural events and conservation of historical sites, Night in Old San Antonio was created. This was tied into the Fiesta celebration. Every year for many years the Fiesta commission held an art competition for the official design of the Fiesta poster. In 2016 I created a design in acrylic paint for this poster competition and called it "Flemenco Dama: Night in Old San Antonio." I did manage to become one of the finalists, but did not win. The design was a mix between fine art and commercial art and was representative of my experiences in watching dancing women watching dancing women flamencos while being accompanied by mariachi bands. The beauty of the flamenco's dresses and the band member's costumes and the poetic and sweeping movements of the dancers intrigued me. The third time I entered the competition, I became a co-winner and my design was printed onto t-shirts and sold throughout the city. This particular design was called "The Spirit of Fiesta" and was very much commercial in style. The prints sold out. I put "Flamenco Dama" into a very limited edition print because of its fine art quality. To me it represents the spirit and culture of San Antonio.
