Throughout the years I have created many ink landscape drawings, but this particular drawing is the only one that specifically refers to Amarillo. I have painted many winter scenes of the high plains, especially night scenes. People who have lived and grown up in Amarillo know that winters can usher in blizzards filled with drifts, high winds, and a piercing cold. This ink drawing is of a farm house just outside of Amarillo and depicts a scene showing a recent snow that is in the process of melting. It is an evening scene where one can feel the crisp and cold night air and the starkness of leafless trees. On nights like this it is good just to be inside and enjoying a warm fireplace.
