Running along a country dirt road was peaceful and therapeutic for me. I lived in a very small town called Ochelata, Oklahoma. On my training runs there was a road not far from the town and an old wooden fence bordered it. A lone tree stoically stood at the end of the fence and sometimes I would stop under it to shade myself from the sun. It was an isolated, unworried, and tranquil place to just rest there and listen to the sounds of nature. For those who like to hike, walk, or even run in wilderness areas, they can appreciate the connection to nature and the effect it has on their souls. This ink drawing is a tribute to them and to the old tree that stood there waiting for me to come and visit and share the beauty of the landscape.
